What is a Herbalist?
What is a Herbalist?
  • A herbalist is an alternative health practitioner that uses medicines made from plants to address health concerns.
  • Herbalists have a deep and thorough training of the herbs they work with.
  • The herbalist uses a holistic approach to search out the underlying cause of the problem and treat the cause rather than the symptoms. Herbal remedies are often combined with diet and lifestyle changes.
  • Herbalists can work with your medical doctor to help you reach your best health, if your MD is willing.
  • Prescription drugs are always taken into consideration by herbalists.

What is the difference between a Herbalist, a Homeopath, and a Naturopath?

  • Herbalists work exclusively with plant base medicine, their training is focused and dedicated to the healing properties of plants. Herbalists often make their own medicines, so accurate information about sourcing and quality is readily available. Herbalists are THE experts on plant medicine.
  • Homeopaths use homeopathic remedies which work more on an energetic level. A homeopathic plant remedy is diluted thousands and thousands of times so there is little to no plant medicine left, but the energetics of the plant remains.
  • Naturopaths study many modes of healing including chiropractic, acupuncture, nutrition, health psychology, and botanical medicine. A naturopath would be considered more of a generalist in all these areas of holistic healing rather than a specialist.
